Chalkboard Wedding Cakes

Ok so I'm a little bit obsessed with Chalkboard effect wedding cakes at the moment!
I saw a gorgeous one on Little Lark Cakes stand at the Bespoke Bride Guide Wedding Showcase I attended last Sunday and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since!
They haven't got a picture of it on their website yet as its a fairly new design but if you get in touch at http://littlelarkcakes.co.uk/ I'm sure they'll send you one :-)

In the meantime here are some of favourite chalkboard cakes I've found on the internet this week ...

Hand Painted Wedding Cakes

One of my favourite trends in the wedding world right now is for gorgeous hand painted wedding cakes. They can be whimsical, floral or very, very modern but the hand painting gives a really beautiful artisan touch and also the guarantee that your cake will be totally individual!

One of my favourite exponents of this style is the lovely Natasha from Nevie Pie Cakes  www.neviepiecakes.com who is based in the UK. I had the great fortune of seeing some of Natasha's cakes in person a few years back at a wedding fair I did in Milton Keynes and I loved her work then.
This is one of favourites from her designs ... I think the colours are amazing!

There are lots of other ideas for painted wedding cakes from other designers out there as well ... here are just some of my favourites which I found to show you ... from cute and floral to really modern.

I hope that gives you a little inspiration for your wedding cake.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone despite the weather ... I'm going to be doing a little art project of my own over the weekend so will hopefully have photos to show you next week!

Gilded & Gold Wedding Cakes

I've been overcome by a wash of requests recently for a bit of gilding and gold for your wedding designs and thought I'd share a bit of my love to end the week of 'gilded wedding cakes'
I have to say I've always been a bit of fan of gold ... large pieces of gold jewellery and statement gold mirrors have always been my preference over a subtle piece of silver or chrome ... so I'm loving the current vogue for gold on wedding cakes!

Nautical Coastal Wedding Ideas

I love a bit of Nautical here at Knots & Kisses! Recently I've been designing some stationery with a Nautical twist so wanted to share some ideas I'd found to inspire you if you are having a nautical or coastal wedding.
I love the combination of navy and white ... its really classic .. and with the addition of the odd anchor makes a really lovely wedding theme.

Radiant Orchid, Lavender & Mauve Wedding Inspiration

Its been a busy old week here at Knots & Kisses. After launching my new Valentines Collection on Monday I've already received several orders ... the most popular definitely seems to be the Pink 'Love You Deer' card http://knotsandkisses.co.uk/greetingscards.html
I've also been working on the 3 new wedding stationery designs for my Spring Collection which will be launching next month ... and there is a definite Spring feel to them .. with some lovely florals, pastel colours and a splash of classic blue and white. I can't wait to share them with you!

This year Pantone has declared the colour of the year as Pantone Radiant Orchid ... and so one of my new designs is definitely featuring some gorgeous lavender and mauve colours. So this week I've also been obsessing over the details of this wedding which was featured on the www.weddingchicks.com website ...

I'm also loving the idea of 'Orchid' coloured wedding food! ...

Fancy Some Wedding Cake ?!

I do love a piece of cake! And so what better to spend this Wednesday on the blog looking at than some gorgeous wedding cakes!
There are some great options out there for couples now who want something special for their wedding day ... and it doesn't necessarily need to be a traditional three tier option.
I personally love the idea of a display of several single tier cakes, a 'bake off' style competition where your guests all bring a cake ( definitely saves on money!) .. or perhaps a 'naked' cake or a cake made of cheese! The options are endless!

Here are a few of my current favourite designs ...

Weekly Wedding Inspiration - Pale Gold & A Hint Of Red

Its been a busy week here at Knots & Kisses ... we're definitely getting in to the busy time when all the enquiries for stationery for summer weddings next year start flooding in :) I would advise any of you thinking of ordering from me, especially if you would like a bespoke design to start enquiring as soon as possible.

This week for my Weekly Wedding Inspiration I've been inspired by some gorgeous inspiration in pale golds with just a hint of red. Everyone loves a bit of sparkle and shimmer at the moment and I think it makes a gorgeous and elegant alternative to a full on red and gold winter wedding theme .. and just looks that little bit more modern.

Beautiful Simple Wedding Cakes

Well its the end of another week and, although its not great weather out there, I'm looking forward to spending the weekend taking photographs for the new website update. Not only will I be photographing the 4 new ranges which will be launching but re-photographing all of the existing ranges to give the new website a fresh and coherent luck.
Hopefully it won't be too grey outside but just in case I have a rather large photographers lamp sitting in my hallway!

For me this week Wedding Inspiration has all been about cakes! Pretty, beautiful and unusual ... wedding cakes are definitely having a bit of a makeover with many option for stripped back or naked cakes rather than the traditional fully iced three tier option.
Here are my favourites from Pinterest this week ...

Pretty Modern Wedding Cakes

Wow finally its Friday! I have to say its been a struggle being self employed over the last week as I've been struggling with feeling like I've got the flu .. but obviously unable to take time off due to many orders to make and finish. My other half has been a star however, helping me out, and is also taking me away for the weekend :)
So apologies for the lack of blog post on Wednesday but to make up for it here are some beautiful and inspiring wedding cakes that I've found recently. The theme is 'Pretty but Modern' and I think all of these cakes prove you can have a thoroughly modern wedding cake without compromising on beauty!

Supplier Spotlight : Gorgeous & Classic Wedding Cakes

It's lovely when you get contacted by a supplier who shows you their work and it turns out its really lovely!
This was definitely the case when Julie from Aunt Julies Bakery www.auntjuliesbakery.co.uk contacted me with photos of her lovely wedding cakes.
Its really nice sometimes to keep things pretty, and classic with a vintage twist with your wedding cake and this is where I think Julie's cakes fit in.

I'll let Julie tell you more about how she started and what she does ...

"We are based in Gloucestershire and I launched the cake business along with my fiancĂ© Ben in February this year. I was in IT Security before and got very tired of sitting in the office so took the plunge to do something more creative! I’ve been involved in the wedding industry before as my sister is a florist and I saw first-hand how rewarding it is – that matched with my love of creating pretty and tasty treats provided the perfect solution! We are currently gearing up to do a number of wedding fairs in the new year with a new cake collection launching soon.

The main aim of Aunt Julie’s Bakery is to be affordable for those many couples who have to plan a wedding on a budget, whilst allowing full flexibility to meet their requirements. The designs on our website can all be tailored to match wedding colours and themes or we can create something completely unique. Our three tier sponge cakes start from just £155 and we publish our prices on our website which includes delivery and set-up at Gloucestershire venues.

I pride myself on my close attention to detail, ensuring each creation is perfect in both looks and taste. All cakes are homemade to order using fresh, quality ingredients. All cakes are suitable for vegetarians and use free-range eggs."
