Get Married Under A Floral Arch

As couples are trying to find more and more ways of making their day special and stand out from the crowd, I've seen lots more ideas popping up for decorating your 'alter' or, especially in non religious ceremonies, creating a focal point at your wedding venue to get married in front of or under.
Many 'blank canvas venues' don't really have anything other than the seating arrangement and a table to create an aisle and focal point for the bride and groom.
There are many ways of doing this .. including a painted backdrop and hanging decorations ... but one of my favourites is the floral arch.

Here are some of my favourite looks.
If you would like to create something like this for your wedding I would thoroughly recommend getting in contact with a uber-talented florist. My favourites to recommend would be http://www.joannetruby.co.uk/ http://www.laurahingstonflowers.com/ and http://www.jayarcherfloraldesign.com/

Wedding Trends 2015 - Hanging Wedding Decor

Hope you've all had a lovely week!
Its been an exciting one here at Knots & Kisses ... I've been designing lots of bespoke wedding stationery for clients, have been working on Movie Poster style table plans and I found out that I had been nominated in the best stationery category at the British Wedding Awards, which you can vote in now https://www.thebritishweddingawards.com/vote-in-the-british-wedding-awards/.

Today I wanted to start looking at emerging trends in weddings for 2015.
One of the biggest is hanging wedding décor. Rather than thinking about just decorating your tables at your venue many are now looking to bring an entire look to a room to really create a wow impact.
Many couples have been using bunting etc. to decorate their rustic style marquee or barn weddings for a while now ... but new hanging décor trends create an impact in all sorts of styles so there will be something you can adapt to suit your wedding or venue.

The biggest trend I love is hanging florals ... speak to your florist about what they can create to decorate your venue.

If florals aren't your thing then hanging lanterns also create a fantastic impact and a more modern look.

And finally how about a modern take on streamers ...

Hope this has given you a few ideas and have a lovely weekend!

Creative Place Settings For Your Wedding

Today I wanted to look at how to dress your tables at your wedding reception.
This doesn't have to be expensive or tricky ... but it can really can pull a whole wedding look together.  Just having a plain white table cloth, cutlery and a single placecard and favour 'floating' around can really look a bit bland and believe me .. no matter how much you think your placecards fit with your theme ... they are generally not enough on their own to carry this theme through so your guests notice :)

A great idea is to use a table runner down the length of your tables .. this works great with long or trestle tables and really pulls a colour scheme together .. especially if your venue décor is quite plain.

Try and use a plates or crockery to create a proper place setting for each guest. If you are at a large venue who provides catering it is worth asking if they will put plates out on the tables for you. Alternatively if you are dressing your own venue collect lots of mismatching vintage china from car boots and antiques shops, or if you want a cleaner matching look hire in china from one of the many china hire companies. Try http://devonvintagechina.co.uk

Use colourful and printed napkins to add more of the details and theme for your wedding. These can be rolled or folded and placed on plates, perhaps with a name tag tied around them or placed on top. A sprig of flowers or herbs on top of the napkin can also look lovely .. or place a menu on top of each napkin for your guests.

Co-ordinate your glassware with your theme. Coloured glasses can often really bring a look together. Again these can be picked up cheaply or hired in ... but its always worth asking your venue if they have anything appropriate already.

Possibly think of using teacups as part of each place setting filled with either flowers or a cupcake or plant favour for your guests! Perfect for an English Tea Party theme!

I hope this has given you a few ideas for your wedding!

Fabulous decorations For Your Wedding Venue

There's definitely a feeling at the moment, especially with the current economic situation, that couples are trying to save as much money as possible and not have too lavish a wedding .. and rightly so! Who wants to enter into married life with a huge debt.
I see more and more couples avoiding the large lavish weddings and receptions at big stately homes and hotels and instead opting for more low key affairs in smaller venues such as farms, barns and village halls.
Whilst these venues are fantastic value for money they do tend to offer more of a blank canvas for your wedding venue and need a bit more vision and decorations to make them come alive.
I personally think this is a great thing ... it gives you a real opportunity to stamp your own personalities and wedding style on a venue.

On that note I've searched for a few fantastic ideas on how to dress your 'blank canvas venue' to make it come and alive, and whether you take these ideas as inspiration to DIY your own, or buy or hire them from the suppliers ... you will still probably keep the costs of your wedding down by opting for one of these venues.

Paper Pom Poms and Lanterns.

Great for hanging en masse from beams and ceilings these will really brighten up your venue and, especially if you have a venue with high ceilings, give the illusion of the venue being a more intimate space which is decorated throughout. Mix pom poms and lanterns for a fun look or go purely for lots of white pom poms to create a sophisticated atmosphere. There are lots of tutorials on line as to how to make pom poms if you have the time and energy .. or you can buy them quite cheaply from lots of suppliers.

Balloons

I can't believe I'm saying this as I'm about as anti a balloon person as your likely to meet! However I'm not talking the old fashioned balloon arches and 'glitter inside balloon' table arrangements you used to get at weddings. (Probably still do at some and I apologise if this is your idea of dream wedding decor .. its just not mine I'm afraid!).
New style Balloon wedding decor is massive balloons en masse to create a bit of a fun feel.
At the www.underthevintageveil.com photoshoot I provided stationery for last year balloons were used to great effect and in a modern way to create a fun corner at a venue ...

Or try this beautiful sleek modern look over your dessert or cake table ...

Bunting

An old favourite now but still fantastic for creating a garden party or village fete style for your wedding.
The trick with bunting is to not hang sparingly ... you really do have to go for it to have a big style impact!

Florals

Florals don't have to be big traditional arrangements or 'swags' across the fronts of your tables. Apply a bit of imagination with your floral arrangements and you can create massive impact!
