Following On With The Black Theme ....

Yesterday I posted about our black wedding stationery and some gorgeous black wedding dresses for a bit of Gothic glamour. I got an amazing response and one email in particular from Julia at Vintage Tiaras By Julia Beazley stood out! She sent me the image below of one of her beautiful vintage tiaras which would go perfectly with the black theme. You can find more information about the tiara on her website www.vintagetiarasbyjuliabeazley.com

Wedding Inspiration - Back to Black!

I'm having a bit of a Gothic moment today! I am a bit partial to some black eyeliner and vintage lace so love the idea of a black Gothic wedding dress!
I've been inspired today by two of my wedding stationery designs ... Bejewelled and Vintage Cameo. I remember when I first started Knots & Kisses showing some of my lets say 'older' relatives these two ranges and being greeted by slight looks of horror and shock that I had included black designs in my Wedding Stationery! Fortunately black is now much more common place in weddings and can create a really beautifully elegant feel to your wedding.
Here are the two stationery designs in question, which can be found on our website www.knotsandkisses.co.uk ....

To go with these stationery ranges I've found some amazing black wedding dresses .... some with a bit of a Gothic twist and others inspired by vintage Hollywood.
If you don't want to go the whole hog and have a completely black dress you can always have a black trim or sash.

Spring Inspired Wedding Styling & Stationery

Well I'm back at work creating lots of lovely wedding stationery after a fantastically sunny holiday up in the Yorkshire Dales. I'm definitely in the mood for some sunny wedding inspiration ... so today's styling blog is inspired by one of my brides who contacted me about her colour scheme of sage green and cherry blossom.

Here are a few of the ideas I have come up with for stationery and place card tags inspired by this theme .. just in computer planning stages at them moment and will probably have some lovely satin ribbon on them in reality...

I love this idea as an alternative to traditional roses and English country garden flowers for a beautiful spring wedding. I can just imagine lots of blossom on the trees and beautiful parasols to match this wedding theme.
Here are a few styling ideas to match ..... I especially love the cherry blossom pom poms which you could hang from trees or en masse in a marquee or barn!

Wedding Supplier Spotlight ... House of Istria

On today's Supplier Spotlight I am delighted to introduce to you the fabulous Charlie from 'House of Istria'.
Charlie produces some stunning wedding accessories and jewellery to compliment your wedding. I especially love her floral hair accessories as they would look stunning with our Country Garden range of Wedding Stationery, which I've shown below with Charlie's work.

Our Country Garden range : http://www.knotsandkisses.co.uk/

I asked Charlie to let us know a little bit more about what she does ....

"House of Istria creates beautiful, unique, precious yet affordable hair accessories. House of Istria is inspired by so many things! We love decades gone by (we create a lot of vintage and vintage inspired pieces), rambling old rose gardens, car boot sales, fashion designers like the late great Alexander McQueen, and pure old fashioned love and romance. We have just started working on a lot of floral pieces- one of the trends we have noticed coming over from America is that more brides are opting for a more natural, personal feel to their weddings and that weddings are being held on a much smaller scale- perhaps this is a consequence of the recession- but one of the trends that have emerged from this are relaxed garden/woodland/picnic style whimsical weddings. This has inspired our new floral line- together with our late grandmother's beautiful rose garden. Plus we got the book The Secret Garden for Christmas. See, properly inspired by romance and beautiful things! We love travel too and travel inspires so many of our pieces, such as our 'Cherry Blossom Girl' comb which was inspired by the time we spent living in Japan. House of Istria was names after the heart shaped region of Istria in Croatia- which is where my husband proposed.

House of Istria uses a variety of materials- from vintage jewellery and found fabrics to feathers and Swarovski crystals and pearls. Anything pretty, and we will play with it! One of the special things we like to offer our brides is our custom service- and a few brides have bought in precious jewellery (usually things they have had inherited from grandparents, aunties etc) and asked if we can make something with their special items. We love working on custom pieces and it's always so amazing to see a bride's face light up when she sees the finished thing.

I want to make brides feel as happy as I did on my wedding day. "

Wedding Jewellery Week - Melissa Morgan Designs

Its Jewellery and Accessories week on the blog ... and today I'm introducing the super talented Melissa Morgan Designs. I came across Melissa on twitter and immediately loved the vintage feel to her designs. I especially love the gold and coloured elements to her designs which would be fabulous for brides who aren't in to the traditional silver and diamond look of tiaras.
Here is my favourite design below ...

I'll let Melissa explain a little bit more about her and her work ....

'Melissa Morgan Designs is an exciting bridal and special occasion accessory company. I specialise in handmade headbands with a vintage feel, with beautiful co-ordinating jewellery available too.

I studied for four years at the Norwich University of the Arts and after graduating it wasn't long before learning the skill of jewellery design was on the cards! Since then I have completed numerous jewellery, beading and silver smithing courses.

This remained just a hobby for a few years until I came to the exciting task of planning my own wedding. I knew I didn’t want the traditional tiara but I could not find anything in the bridal shops that caught my eye. Online I found an abundance of side styled headbands that captured the vintage elegance I was after. Unfortunately, I was going to have to do quite a bit of saving to get one of those beauties so we decided on one last trawl around the bridal shops.. It was in one of these that I found a dress embellishment that I knew would look perfect in my hair. I went home, got some supplies together and in a week I had the unique band I had dreamed of!

Then there was no stopping me! I went on to make my own jewellery and that of my bridesmaids. So many people gave us such lovely complements that it wasn’t long after returning from honeymoon that I began experimenting with more headbands and combs. This time I used vintage pins and brooches. Friends and family began to show interest and before I knew it I was getting orders! Over time I’ve managed to build up a small collection of both headwear and jewellery and so Melissa Morgan Designs was born!

My designs are best suited to brides and bridesmaids, however lots of them would look equally stunning for proms, balls, days at the races or even attending a wedding as a guest. More recently I’ve added some colourful lines and these are getting great feedback!

The current collection consists of two main elements ‘Vintage’ and ‘Vintage Inspired’. The Vintage pieces are made from unique vintage finds, making sensational one of a kind headwear that you know nobody else will have. Vintage Inspired takes modern pieces with a vintage feel and can be reproduced or customised for individual clients. To complete the range I have a selection of earrings, bracelets and necklaces, many of which co-ordinate with the headpieces.

In addition to this I offer a complete bespoke service, this covers all elements of my work from headbands to earrings. It’s probably the most exciting part of my work, finding out about individual weddings, clients’ styles and what makes them tick. I am able to source suitable items and even let clients pick the elements that will make their final piece. There is no end to what can be done when you start to combine brooches, beads and crystals so it really is possible to have some headwear as unique as you are!'"

I also have to show this gorgeous lime floral headband from Melissa as I think it would go really well with our Cerise & Lime Damask range of stationery, shown with the headband below ...

Styling Inspiration To Match Our Orchid Wedding Stationery

Today I'd like to introduce you to our Orchid range of Wedding Stationery. The day invitations are embellished with a silk orchid and the orchid motif runs through the range as a printed design.
The Day invitations come in a beautiful box envelope ready for you to post to your guests.

I think the orchid range looks fantastic with simple oriental style, and is great with creams, whites and fresh spring greens as accent colours. Think oriental fans as favours, Chinese lanterns strung through trees at your venue and beautiful crisp white table linen. You could even give your bridesmaids oriental paper parasols!
Here are a few styling ideas ...

Friday Supplier Spotlight : Mia Rose Bridal Jewellery!

Well I think you all know by now how obsessed I am by all things jewellery! Especially if its vintage inspired ... and so for a week from today I'm making it Jewellery & Accessories week on the blog!
Today I'm delighted to introduce the fantastic bridal jewellery from the lovely Debbie at Mia Rose! My favourite has to be the 'Amanda' design below ...

I'll let Debbie tell you a bit more about what they do ....

"I founded Mia Rose in 2009, with the aim of providing brides with beautiful headwear and accessories for their big day. Self-taught over the last couple of years I have enjoyed having my creative abilities challenged providing bespoke pieces, specially tailored to the wishes of each individual bride. As well as this service, I also have a large selection of tiaras, headbands, hair combs, pins and over the past 12 months have added a matching jewellery service, giving brides the opportunity to coordinate their accessories perfectly

Over the last few years, there has been an increasing requirement for vintage inspired designs. In order to compete in the market place Mia Rose is delighted to offer a number of vintage inspired pieces to suit this requirement and I am constantly sourcing new and beautiful adornments to create more and more new vintage themed designs.

I consider myself very lucky to be self-employed in such a wonderful industry. It is truly lovely to receive an email from an excited bride who has just received her goods telling me just how lovely it is and how she is looking forward to wearing it on her big day. I have a huge sense of satisfaction knowing that out of all the wonderful companies who specialise in bridal headwear and accessories, they chose Mia Rose. At Mia Rose we specialise in making brides happy.....its what we do best!"

Art Deco Themed Stationery & Wedding Ideas

I have to say, when it comes to periods of history I like the 1920's almost as much as I love the 1940's ... and when it comes to wedding styling an art deco theme is fantastically stylish!
As I've mentioned before a couple of years ago I did the wedding stationery and table plans for friends of mine who had an amazing art deco themed wedding in the local theatre where they met. It was amazingly glamorous and the bride wore a bright red dress and matching veiled top hat!
Here's the stationery I created for the day ....

So I thought for today's styling feature I'd share a few more ideas I'd found to help style an Art Deco themed wedding.... I always think for this theme beautiful candelabra work really well with tall art deco vases and lots of crystal and glass decor. Also go all slinky with satin dresses, ostrich feather fans and beautiful diamante jewellery. I've styled the images below with a couple of our stationery ranges which are perfect with this theme .. Bejewelled and Vintage Cameo. You can find more information on our website www.knotsandkisses.co.uk.
